DU-RIG is a sterile solution containing Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) which is prepared from human plasma obtained from voluntary donors immunized against rabies. The source plasma is tested negative for HIV 1/2 and HCV before being used to prepare the Rabies Immunoglobulin DU-RIG.
Mainly applied for passive immunity to the patients being bitten and scratched by rabies or other animals carrying rabies virus.
Each milliliter contains：
Human Rabies Immunoglobulin: 100IU (Active).
Sterile water for injection: add to 1 ml (Inactive).
The biological half life of the Human Rabies Immunoglobulin is 16-24 days.
Use 1/2 of the total dose on the hurt part for subcutaneous infiltration injection after timely and complete debridement, and use the remained 1/2 for intramuscular injection (the injection could be done on back muscles for those bite on head). if the dose is not enough, the drug could be diluted with saline solution by 2-3 times before application.
The injection dosage is calculated according to 20IU/kg by weight, injection should be done in one time, if the total dosage required is above 10ml, then the injections could be done in several times in 1～2 days. Then the injection for rabies vaccine could be conducted, however, the injection parts and appliances of two drugs must be strictly separated.
- The one allergic to human immunoglobulin or with other serious allergy history.
- The drug is prohibited for those patients of IgA selective deficiency with IgA antibody.
Few people have red and swollen and pain on the injection part, no extra treatment is needed, it will recover automatically.
Supplied in 200 IU/ 2 mL of Rabies Immunoglobulin vials.
DU-RIG is usually stored in the doctor’s surgery or clinic, or at the pharmacy. However, if you need to store DU-RIG:
Keep it where children cannot reach it.
Keep DU-RIG in the original pack until it is time for it to be given.
Keep DU-RIG at 2 ~ 8°C protected from light. Do not put it in the freezer.
If DU-RIG is left out of the fridge or put in the freezer, it may not work.
It should not be used after the expiry date on the package.
